EMBARC's RISE AmeriCorps Program is searching for service-minded individuals to serve diverse refugee communities in Iowa. You will work with community agencies to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate education, referrals, outreach, and direct services to refugee families in need. 
Looking for candidates that have a(n):
  • Interest in and respect for different cultures with a commitment to social justice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to communicate in a language of one of Iowa’s refugee communities is a plus, but not required
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to use or learn to use a computer for e-mail communication, online reporting (monthly time reports, quarterly impact data) and preparing monthly success stories/reflections
  • Experience training or teaching adults, preferably across racial, cultural, class and gender differences is a plus

Serve full-time or part-time
​starting April 3, May 1 or May 30!

  • A modest living allowance (available to all members)
  • Childcare and/or health benefits (available to some members)
  • Skills-based and professional development training
  • Forbearance for federally backed students loans; after you successfully complete your term of service, you are eligible to have the interest incurred during service paid in full
After service, you will receive:
  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to use on future educational expenses or to pay back qualified student loans. The value is dependent on length of service. Members 55+ are eligible to transfer their education award to a family member
  • Competitive job edge in your job search, including access to a network of over 600 Employers of National Service
