Yadira Guzman is a RISE AmeriCorps Member serving at Al Éxito in Des Moines.
Originally from Waterloo, Yadira received her B.A. in political science from the University of Northern Iowa. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in human rights at the University of Minnesota.
During her undergraduate career, Yadira worked at the UNI Office of Admissions, where she assisted in the outreach and recruitment of first-year students from historically marginalized populations. Yadira also served as a leader within the UNI Minority Educators of Today and Tomorrow (UMETT) program, where she helped students gain knowledge about the university. She later conducted research on redlining policies and their impacts in Black Hawk County.

In her free time, Yadira loves to go on hikes, travel and spend time with family and friends.
