Meet Lana

Picture
Lana V. Baccam is a RISE AmeriCorps member from Des Moines, serving with ArtForce Iowa.

Lana’s family are Taidam refugees that sought asylum under Governor Robert D. Ray due to the Vietnam War. She is a community activist that has worked on multiple campaigns and serves on the board of the Asian & Latino Coalition.

As a daughter of refugees, Lana understands the disadvantages of transgenerational trauma. She wants to advocate for marginalized communities by embracing its youth and their families with the help of ArtForce Iowa, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
