Meet Junnie

Junnie Lukama is a RISE AmeriCorps member with the Intercultural Center of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. 

Junnie is the second born of four girls. In 2004, Junnie and her family moved from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the United States. She graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting. Now Junnie is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration at Grand Canyon University.

As to why she joined the RISE program Junnie says, "I enjoy serving others and the community. I believe that volunteering your time, money, and energy to help others not only makes the world better but also makes you better as an individual."

Growing up, Junnie and her sisters traveled to many different places to sing at concerts, weddings, and other events. Her favorite place to visit is Arizona. In her spare time, Junnie enjoys singing, traveling. and reading.
