Joselyn Carrillo is a RISE AmeriCorps summer member at the Iowa Latino Affairs Commission.
Joselyn, whose parents immigrated from Central America, is a senior at Iowa State University studying Environmental Studies and Agronomy. Although Joselyn’s educational background is focused on natural resources, she has always advocated for equity for underrepresented communities.
She has always had a passion for helping people, which led her to studying in Uganda for three months last summer. This summer her passion led her to working for Americorps and La Linea de Ayuda where she hopes to help the LatinX community through the pandemic. With La Línea de Ayuda, Joselyn hopes to help empower the LatinX community in Iowa.
