Meet Hannah
Hannah Hatch is a RISE AmeriCorps member with EMBARC Waterloo.
Hannah will graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in the fall of 2020 with degrees in Political Science and Global Studies. She is from a small town in Central Iowa and came to the Cedar Valley for college. Prior to arriving at UNI, Hannah had not interacted with the refugee community in Iowa, nor been aware such a community existed. As she became greater aware of the needs of this population within such close proximity to me, she felt driven to become involved in a meaningful way. "I joined the RISE AmeriCorps team because I wanted to play a part in positively impacting the refugee community in Iowa, and have found a passion in this work through my service as an AmeriCorps member. I have always enjoyed working with youth, and through my service have been able to interact with a variety of youth through organizing the summer literacy kits and serving as a mentor. I have learned so much about the culture and had the opportunity to interact with so many diverse individuals whom I would not have had the pleasure to meet otherwise." In her free time, Hannah enjoys exploring new parks and trails, painting, and trying new recipes. |
