Meet Eyob

Eyob Gebrezgabiher is a RISE AmeriCorps member with EMBARC Waterloo.

Eyob was born and raised in Eritrea in east Africa. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Social Work in 2019 from Iowa Central Community College. Currently a student at the University of Northern Iowa, Eyob is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Human Rights.

Before RISE AmeriCorps Eyob worked with UNHCR and International Rescue Committee (IRC), as a refugee assistant.

"I joined the RISE program because of its diversity. I have the opportunity to meet so many people from different countries and learn from their culture," Eyob says.

In the future, Eyob hopes to work for the United Nations.
