Meet Diane
Diane Padilla is a first generation Mexican-American who served with the RISE AmeriCorps program in 2018 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined RISE because of her passion for working with youth, building community, and empowering people of diverse backgrounds.
As a RISE member, Diane served ELL youth in areas such as career planning, college preparation, and resume building. |
“My teammate and I supported and strengthened each other throughout our service. We built a bond with each other and the community. It was great seeing women doing incredible things,” Diane says of her time with RISE.
After completing her service term, Diane had the opportunity to pursue new interests and experiences. RISE allowed Diane to build public speaking skills and work on a variety of projects. With her newfound confidence, Diane secured a research internship at NATO headquarters in Belgium.
