Cindy Delgado-Parra is a RISE AmeriCorps member from Des Moines, Iowa. As a junior at Iowa State University, Cindy plans to pursue a major in Biology and minors in Psychology & Spanish. After graduation, Cindy plans to attend medical school to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.
Her overall goal in life is to become a Pediatric doctor who travels globally to specifically help children and their families receive the medical attention they deserve. Cindy acknowledges there is a low representation of Latinx in the medical field, so she hopes to one day represent her community and mentor future doctors to increase the proportion of minority doctors in the US.
As a former DREAMER, Cindy has decided to commit her life to serving and advocating for others because she understands she can use her voice to better the quality of her community. Cindy decided to become an AmeriCorps member because she loves working closely with her community and she wants to gain more knowledge on how to better serve them through different resources.
Serving with Al Éxito, Cindy has been able to help Latino families by providing them with resources based on their unique needs.
