RIVA AmeriCorps offers a modest living allowance to help members meet the necessary living expenses incurred while serving the community.

- The living allowance will be distributed every other week by direct deposit, starting on the first Friday after the first complete pay period.
- RIVA AmeriCorps cannot pay a living allowance on an hourly basis. It is not a wage and cannot fluctuate based on the number of hours the members serves in each time period.
- RIVA AmeriCorps members are prohibited from accepting additional compensation (including items like gift cards) directly from the host site.
- The living allowance is taxable and taxes will be deducted directly from the living allowance.
- RIVA AmeriCorps members are not employees of RIVA AmeriCorps for purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act. They are not eligible to receive unemployment benefits from their AmeriCorps service, regardless of status.
