EMBARC (Des Moines)
Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center (EMBARC, Des Moines) founded the RISE AmeriCorps Program in 2015. As Iowa’s first refugee-led service provider, EMBARC is dedicated to advocating for and supporting ethnic minority groups from Burma who resettled in Iowa. EMBARC also offers services for other refugees from across the globe. The Des Moines location is the main headquarters of the organization.
RISE AmeriCorps Members at EMBARC’s Des Moines location work directly with refugees from Burma to help connect them with resources and meet their needs. Members also assist with English language learning and vaccine outreach. |
